From time to time during my travels, I come across signs that I find interesting for one reason or another. Sometimes, they contain clever writing, are humorous, or remind me of some place or event. Here are some from driving trips getting to, and around, the US states of Kansas and Virginia.

This piece of art is a roll of toilet paper made from concrete, and the path happens to be part of that roll.
On South Main Street of Lucas, Kansas, there stands a very modern and artistically decorated public toilet facility. A plaque states that in 2018, it won an International Toilet Tourism Award for the “quirkiest experience.” Yes, there really is such an award!
Now this find was a bonus. The real reason I went to Lucas was to see the Garden of Eden, an outdoor exhibit with more than 150 sculptures representing Samuel P. Dinsmoor’s interpretation of the Biblical creation and world history. There is also a mausoleum housing his mummified remains, which I saw for a small fee.

Actually, it turned out to be a construction company. Perhaps it builds castles?

The rising cost of church renovation. As I drove around Victoria, Kansas, I came upon the Basilica of St. Fidelis. I went inside to have a look, and I chatted with a retired man doing some renovations.

I’ve stated this quotation on many occasions, primarily to people who have not travelled much or at all, and aren’t convinced that they should, because, “After all, we have everything we need, right here!”

It is just soooo hard to get good help around the house these days! Now I’ve been led to believe that if you don’t clean the inside of your house for two years, it doesn’t get any worse after that. However, that doesn’t seem to apply to the outside!
